Kauai or bust
Nate and I went to Kauai a few weeks ago for a week long vacation with our good friends Mindy and ryan colwell. The first two days we were there it rained quite a bit so we drove around the island a lot. We got paddle board down a river that ended up at hanalei bay. It was awesome! we also got to meet up with Danielle and Conley Rogers while we paddle Boarded. So much fun. We drove up to Waimea Canyon and saw some cool sights. We got to see the blow hole in Poipu that day too. Once the sun came out, we got to spend a lot more times snorkeling and laying out. We had a Zipline tour that was AWESOME. 9 zips and the last one ended in a fresh water hole. It was cold but, still so fun. Then we had dinner at Dukes, a restaurant by our hotel. The next day we went on a hike up to Kalalau Trail. One of the hardest hikes I have done. About and hour and a half each way. and it was uphill a lot of the way! At the end of the trail you can cross the river, if conditions apply, and you get to a little beach. It was beautiful! the whole hike was gorgeous and you look out into the ocean at the turquoise water the whole time. After the hike we spend time at Ke'e beach and snorkeled a bit. Mindy and I layed out mostly. After that we headed to Secret Beach, and we saw Bethany hamilton walk by us, so we followed her and watched her surf for a bit. After she was done we asked to get a picture with her and both our phones werent working. fail. We had dinner at The Beach house one of the nights, and it was sooooooo good. and such a beautiful restaurant that had glass doors that opened up to the lanai and over looked the ocean and sunset. so cool. Another adventure we did was a raft tour of the Na Pali Coast! The most incredible thing i have ever done, ever! we took a zodiac boat out along the Na Pali coast. There are no roads to this coast so the only way to see it is boat or helicopter. On the way out we saw a few different groups of Humpback Whales, Spinner Dolphins, and a ton of Sea Turtles! The Whales were about 50-100 yds away, and the dolphins got right up to our boat. We went inside a sea cave which was so cool! have i mentioned how beauitful the water was?? the prettiest color you will ever see. On the way back, we stopped and snorkled. We swam with some cool fish, and 3 Turtles. Then we had lunch on the boat. Amazing. We headed back, and the water got pretty rough, i was a little scared but tried not to scream :) Captain Joe acted like it was no big deal, and that it gets way worse than that! We ended most nights with a trip to the hot tub, which was nice especially after our big hike. We got sooo sore. We missed our kids, but luckily for Facetime we were able to see and talk to them everyday. Overall we had the best trip ever! cant wait to go back to Kauai someday!
