New York 30

Nate was turning 30 this year, so in February i started saving all my money and secretly planning a trip to NYC. I slowly bought things as the months passed, air fare, yankees tickets, wicked tickets, and planned other things to do. I book the hotel, and i was set! so excited. I wasn't going to tell him till the day of. I even got his work covered and babysitters for the kids all set up. One day when I was looking at our hotel reservation online I heard his truck pull in the driveway early! so I hurried and clicked out of everything and jumped into bed like I was watching TV. He sat down to do some work at the computer and saw the reservation. ooops.. i thought i clicked out of that. my secret was no longer a secret. but he was just as suprised.

we took a red eye flight and got there at 6 am.. which is 3 am az time. that was brutal. luckily our hotel had a room and just so happened they had to upgrade us.. for free. woop! we were on the 54th floor and had a corner view room of the center of times square and the other side of the river. it was awesome! We got lost a time or two, once in the pouring rain. that wasn't so awesome. and on a rainy day taxis are impossible to get. infact, don't believe what you see in movies. you don't just wave your hand and get a taxi so easy.. you have to wait a bit. annoying. The subways are so convienant but oh so nasty. we saw a rat the size of a cat, and lots of pee puddles from homeless bums.

We went to MoMA.. so lame. is that art? some of it was cool.. the old stuff. we went to the Museum of natural history.. that was AWESOME! we tried to go to MET but it was closed.. of course. We went to a Yankees game, saw Wicked on Broadway, visted the Empire State Building, Maddison square garden, The Rockefeller Center (best views), 9/11 memorial and cite, statue of liberty, and ate at so many yummy places! we had lots of fun, but were so eager to get home to the babes. huge thanks to our parents for watching them, and giving them so much love and care while we were gone! They were in Grandma mode when we got home and thought they could get anything they wanted haha.

I love the time i get to spend with just Nate, i feel like it helps our marriage stay strong. All in all it was a great experiance. We just don't understand why anyone would want to live in the city....
